With apologies to all my PETA friends …
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time, as the saying goes … but that’s only if it’s dead.
So how do you eat a moving elephant? You have to shoot it first. Then you have to cut it into little pieces. Then you have take a bite .. and chew.
Have you shot your elephant?

This thought occurred to me because I’ve just finished my annual planning, and it’s more than overwhelming. Yeah, I am late in doing it, but as I said, it’s overwhelming, so cut me some slack, will ya?
There are so many assignments facing me; those I’ve been given by others and those I’ve given myself. It can be overwhelming to think about it all. Elephant, shoot; there’s a whole herd out there, and they’re all looking at me! Stampede a comin’!
My biggest problem when I am overwhelmed is that I tend to stand there and think about it all, rather than aim at just one thing and pull the trigger. I want to do the right task first; now which one is that? … Conditions need to be perfect to do good work: let’s turn some music on ... no, turn it off … ok, put it back on … You know what? Let’s go get some hot coffee before we get started ...
I wonder if you feel the same way. Here’s my advice to me and you: instead of trying to stare down the stampede, pull the trigger. Take aim at one thing and Shoot! Don’t overthink it.
This is especially true of your planning. Yes, there’s a lot to consider, but you’ve got to start somewhere, and somewhere is better than nowhere. Like I said last week, people who delay planning until a crisis hits eventually have to make rushed decisions. Trying to stare down the stampede, instead of taking aim and pulling the trigger, just isn’t smart … Believe me, I know!

Here’s what I’m going to do for you … over the next few weeks, I will introduce you to some powerful concepts on thinking and planning that I have learned from some pretty smart folks, and I’ll show you where to start and how to start. I am going to show you how to get your planning started and avoid rushed decisions.
I can help you, but I can’t do it for you. It’s going to be up to you.
So are you going to just stand there and try to stare down the stampede, or are you going to take aim and shoot your elephant?

We show you how to use your benefits to create more cash flow for today!
Have a great week,
Mike
